Connobro Castle 1.3



It's finally here.
After a very long week of just working on this update, I have finally gotten to a point where I am happy to release it to the public. There are still some additions I want to make, and I don't think the game is completed, but I am happy with the progress I've made and wanted to share it with the world.
Major things that have been added/changed:
- Font change
I really didn't like the old font, and settings in the text made the outline look weird, so I grabbed 3 fonts and I think they work much better, and I used a shadow instead of an outline, since I think it looks cleaner.
- New gameplay UI
The old UI was really ugly in my opinion, and needed a change in order to make the game feel better and be more immersive. I decided to make the board take up the whole screen, and added cards in your hand like a deck. I think there are still some things I might want to add to make it easier to navigate, but I'm really happy with this result. Luckily my old system was pretty dynamic so I was able to switch this all over without having a huge struggle.
- Better menus
The old menus had massive text, since the game view is much smaller when developing, but when the game gets full screen, it looks really clunky and awful. I compacted a lot of the UI in order to make it look better, and I think it worked really well. I also changed the main menu since I really didn't like the old look of it.
- Animations
The previous versions heavily lacked animations, everything was very static and I didn't like that look. I decided to animate a lot of the menus to make it look nicer, as well as the game. Some very simple things can go very far, like the way the cards move during gameplay. I also tried to add transitions between scenes, and I think those turned out really well.
What's to next to come?
- More levels (duh)
Obviously there are still more levels to come, as the story is just beginning.
- More cards
I have a lot of card ideas that I have tucked away for later, and I think they'll add a lot of fun to the game
- Easier way to get cards
Right now you can only get cards by gambling on them, in the future I plan on adding other ways to get cards (like buying them or level rewards)
- Music stuff
I have a lot of songs (around 100) just laying around and I want to put my best ones to good use, in the trailer I show two songs that aren't in the game yet, and I already know where I want one to go, but I'm still wondering about the other. My idea is that you can switch songs during gameplay (a music manager of sorts) so it's not the same song looping over and over again.
- Achievements
I think achievements would be really fun and I already have a few jotted down. Feel free to join my Discord server and suggest any achievement ideas too, or any feedback/suggestions in general.
That's all I have for now. If there are any bugs, my Discord server has a place to report them, so please send those there. Other than that there's not really anything else for now. I hope you enjoy the update.
