Boost + New Levels + Better Sprites - Connobro Castle


Connobro Castle Has a New Update

Connobro Castle now has a new update. This update adds a few things but they all have a big impact.

Boosts:

Last update of Connobro Castle I added the element system, but now I've added something that will change the gameplay a lot more, that being Boost Cards. There are 25 boost cards that all affect the game in some way. Whether it being the ability to deal damage to enemies that are shielded, deal +1 damage, give enemies a poison effect, or killing enemies when you delete one of your cards. You can only have 3 boosts at a time, making it so that you have to choose carefully, and will hopefully help build strategies and play styles for the game.

New Levels:

There are now 18 total levels in the game. I plan on having 61 levels total, but that would take a long time and I already have many things already released in this update that I want to get out as soon as possible. One of the two new levels contains the first boss fight.

Better Sprites:

I also decided to raise the resolution of my sprites. This makes them more detailed so that they can have a lot more facial expressions, which adds heavily to the vibe of the game. I had to go back and adjust the sprites for every level, while doing this I also adjusted the dialogue to better match what I was going for, since I have a much better vision than when I originally started out.

Save System and UI:

Lastly, my old save system was not really good. It saved objects using temporary values which means that any time the game assets were reloaded, your save would not work anymore. I changed this to where it now uses universal numbers that never change, unfortunately this does mean you have to reset your save when upgrading to this new version but you should never have to do this again, unlike old versions where your save data wouldn't carry over at all.
There have also been small changes to the UI, mostly being a few more animations and making some things smaller so that the game feels less clunky.

Conclusion:

Overall, this is going to be the last big Connobro Castle update. The future updates will just be me adding levels, cards, enemies, maybe boosts, and bosses. Adding levels is going to be my main priority, since there are so many of them, and I will add the other things if I think they would add to the game. I don't want to make a lot of cards because that risks maybe cards that are not good in any situation, and since you can't choose what cards you bring into battle, that would really suck. Maybe in the future there will be a way to pick cards, but I wouldn't count on it unless its heavily requested.
